By bringing awareness to bodily sensations and allowing the body to move and release tension, individuals can experience a sense of relief, relaxation, and emotional healing. Somatic release techniques can help individuals connect with their bodies, release trauma, improve body awareness, and promote overall well-being.
Somatic experiencing starts with the understanding that emotions are physical sensations, and those sensations can get stuck in your body, leading to physical pain and other symptoms such as a racing heart, upset stomach, and headache, just to name a few. Practitioners of somatic therapy may use various modalities such as somatic experiencing, yoga, dance therapy, massage therapy, or mindfulness practices to help individuals release stored tension and achieve a greater sense of balance and ease. This approach recognizes the interconnectedness of the mind and body, understanding that emotional experiences can manifest physically in the form of muscle tension, pain, or discomfort. By engaging in somatic release practices, individuals can support their overall health and well-being by addressing both the physical and emotional aspects of their experiences.
I don’t remember a time in my life when I wasn’t trying to make sense of human nature. It’s in my DNA, a part of who I am. I believe that we are all here to lift each other up by using our unique gifts. My gift is the ability to understand other’s experiences with compassion and respect. I’m able to see the big picture and help my clients to find solutions that they may not have considered before.
I am no stranger to anxiety, fear, and trauma. Through my own healing journey, I’ve learned that healing is not a one-size-fits-all experience. I believe that treating the client as a whole (body, mind, and spirit) can produce results that any single focus alone cannot. I want to use both my natural inclination as an empathetic person and my personal and professional experience to help others discover who they are and bring that fullness into their own lives.
